Dodgers 12 - Mets 3
Steve Trachsel pitched 4 awful innings of batting practice to the Dodgers today, giving up 8 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks. The Dodgers took Trachsel deep twice, including a 3-run homer by opposing pitcher Brett Tomko, and also had 2 doubles and a triple off the Mets' #3 starter. Darren Oliver, Juan Perez, Heath Bell, Jorge Julio and Duaner Sanchez followed, only Bell pitched well.
The Mets didn't fare well at the plate, either, managing only 6 hits. No one had a multi-hit game. David Wright had a solo homer off Tomko, while Paul Lo Duca and Jose Reyes drove in the other runs.
I guess you could look at this game as an example of why Heilman needs to return to the bullpen, but to me the appearance of the "bad" Steve Trachsel reminds me of why it scares me so much that he is the third starter.
The Mets will be travel to Jupiter to face the Marlins tomorrow afternoon. Aaron Heilman will get the start for the Mets. Jose Lima and Yusaku Iriki are also scheduled to pitch.

I actually agree with you that to me it is a reason to keep Heilman as a starter.
