Just a quick note on the SportsNet New York situation. MEDIAWEEK is reporting that SNY and Verizon have reached an agreement for SNY to be broadcast on Verizon's FiOS TV service. Even if you don't live in Massapequa Park, Nyack or South Nyack, where Verizon has franchises, this is probably good news. Anything that creates some positive momentum is probably helpful.
If, on the other hand, you have Adelphia cable -- as I do -- the news is less than good. In this article, although specifically about Adelphia in the Utica, NY area, we get the all-too-familiar news that the sale of Adelphia is still dragging out, and probably will into late June. We're unlikely to see SNY added to any Adelphia system until this sale goes through. This sale has been delayed several times, and it certainly can be delayed further. Also, it's not reasonable to expect an immediate action on SNY once Adelphia systems are finally taken over by Comcast and Time Warner.
I've been able to find nothing at all new on the satellite front -- just continued assurances that negotiations are ongoing.
