Orioles 6 - Mets 5
Victor Zambrano was decent in his first start of the season, going 5 innings and scattering 6 hits. He gave up a solo home run to Melvin Mora in the third and an unearned run in the fourth. He struck out 1 and walked nobody.
Kris Benson pitched against his former teammates and didn't fare as well, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) in 4 innings, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out 3.
Lefties Juan Perez and Royce Ring and right-hander Jeremi Gonzales combined for 3 scoreless innings, but Bartolome Fortunato, who had been looking good this spring, got absolutely torched as the Orioles scored 4 in the ninth to steal the game. Fortunato registered only a single out, while giving up 4 hits and 2 walks.
Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran were the batting stars for New York with 2 hits each. Endy Chavez had a pair of RBIs.
The Mets will be home in Port St. Lucie tomorrow night, with Aaron Heilman starting against the Dodgers.

Nice. Based on this you could reason omar kept the better pitcher? Fortunato;
I do not see him on the team further he takes up a precious roster spot. nice for Endy who showed well during the WBC. also our 1-3 spots in the line up.
Again we will see this often, a 2+ run first inning. Xavier did not have a 'memorable' game.
I vote no on Soriano. his stock has fallen farther than Kaz's.

Fortunato has actually looked decent until that game. Boy did he suck in that one, though.
Soriano was never a good fit for the Mets. I can't see them investing 10 million in him.
