Beltran Will Miss Today's Game Because of a Tight Hamstring

Another dose of harsh reality after yesterday's loss to Milwaukee -- the AP is reporting that Carlos Beltran injured his hamstring when he collided with Prince Fielder at first base in yesterday's game.

After being told by the doctor yesterday that the injury was not serious, Beltran woke up today feeling sore. Beltran talked it over with Willie Randolph, and they decided to give the injury a day to see how it responds. Although Beltran doesn't believe the injury to be serious, and hopes to play against the Braves tomorrow, he doesn't want a repeat of last year:

I'll take it easy today and then we'll see about tomorrow. To me, it's nothing major.

Last year, I tried to play through the quad [injury] and it didn't work the way I wanted. I didn't take the time to heal completely.
