I heard today on WFAN radio that the Texas Rangers have given Barry Zito until tomorrow to make up his mind.
I can't even believe that Zito and Boras are still considering going with Texas. Boras is the Satan of baseball. I entitled this post "Part 2" because I'm sure I have used this analogy before in a headline. If not then I should have.
This agent will stop at nothing to place his clients in places that in the long run make their stats and their careers suffer, just so that he can get a bigger commission.
How many millions of dollars is enough for these guys already? I think I could live quite nicely on a couple of million and have plenty left to live the rest of my life without looking at a price tag.
Boras is a big part of the reason that baseball salaries are so out of hand. He would rather that Zito pitch for a terrible team, than know the joy of playing for a contender who is in the thick of the play off race all season. I don't understand the Rangers situation anyway, this is a team with money to spend yet they never get anywhere during the season. Something is wrong there, be it a clubhouse situation, or that Tom Hicks is just a pain in the ass as an owner. There is something not right there.
If Zito doesn't come to the Mets, I hope that he at least goes somewhere that matters in the play off picture.

Shari,
I could not disagree with you more!!!!!
a. This is what free agency is all about. Barry has earned that right to get paid, live where he wants and dictate his career. Ala so many forerunners if Barry chooses ? (tx/san Fran), signs a long term deal and never wins that is his choice....see Barry Bonds.

Ed- Thats your opinion and thats fine, I couldn't disagree with you more.
Free Agency is a big part of whats wrong with baseball-and Boras is the #1 offender-no one should get paid an obscene amount of money like that unless they can cure cancer, aids or the common cold.
