We were wondering what choice the Mets would make when the 40-man roster went up to 41 with the signings of Jorge Sosa and Scott Schoeneweis. The answer came when Jason Standridge was Designated For Assignment. This removes him from the 40-man and exposes him to waivers. If no other team claims him, Standridge can still come to camp on a minor league contract. Standridge has only been with the Mets since mid-November, when they claimed him off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds. We'll keep an eye on it, and we'll still do the preview if no one claims him.
I'm taking the weekend off once again from writing these previews. We'll resume them Sunday night and, work permitting, should finish them this week.
Once again tomorrow we'll have a post from Barry Duchan on Mets history.
