No End in Sight

Twins 6 - Mets 2
Played Wednesday, June 20, 2007

I thought the Mets would win that game last night. I convinced myself before the game started that they would begin to turn things around. But then Perez wasn't really sharp and the offense was borderline pathetic against an extremely hittable pitcher. I had a bad feeling about things a while before Hunter's homer sailed over the left field wall.

If Perez wasn't his sharpest, at least he impressed me by battling the whole way. He must have felt quite lonely out there.

I notice the fans booed Carlos Delgado last night after yet another soft popup. While I wouldn't personally do it, at least I could understand this one. The fans have been more than patient with Delgado.

I've reconciled myself to the fact that there is absolutely no telling when this club will wake up. I can't decide whether they are the type of team that will rise to the challenge and be stronger from these struggles or follow in the dubious tradition of previous soft Mets teams that play beneath their potential for a season. Frankly, I'm tired of writing about their play in June, and I suspect many of my readers are tired of reading about it.

About Mike: I was the original writer on this web site, actually its only writer for the first 15 months of existence. Although I am grateful for the excellent contributions of my fellow writers here, I have no plans of stepping back into strictly an editorial role. I started this thing in the first place because I love to write and I love the Mets, and blogging here keeps me somewhat sane. If you haven't had enough already, more bio info can be found here.
