Mets 5 - Astros 3 (17)
Played Saturday, July 7, 2007
The Astros have one of the worst bullpens in the National League so far, and Woody Williams has been one of the league's worst starting pitchers this season. Going in, if I was told Tom Glavine would pitch 7 innings and allow 3 runs, I would have marked him down for career win number 298. But in yet another manifestation of the power outage that has dominated the last 5 weeks of the season, it required another 10 innings of shutout relief from the bullpen for the Mets to pull this one out.

Don't get me wrong here. The way things have been going we'll take any win any way we can get it. I'll give the team credit for displaying some toughness and coming back and then playing great "D". Beltran's catch was as good technically as any I've ever seen by a Met outfielder. Still, I'd like to believe in a second half for the Mets where they don't have to play two games to notch one win.
