Mets Stretch Winning Streak To 5

Mets bring their bats with them to Cincinnati and get a huge lift from Pedro's successful return. Here are the box score links and updated pitcher's stats from the first two games of the Reds series.

Mets 10 - Reds 4
Played Monday, September 3, 2007

It was nice to see Pedro settle down and pitch 5 decent innings, and huge that the Mets won this game for him, handing Aaron Harang only his 4th loss of the season.

Oliver Perez has endured some hard-luck losses, so no one is asking him to give this win back. Still, if he hopes to start playoff games he needs to display the consistent arm slot and command of his pitches he had earlier this year. He was betrayed somewhat by his defense again, but just hasn't looked real crisp out there for quite a while.

Nice offensive game for Lo Duca, but I hope he doesn't start swinging for the fences now.

About Mike: I was the original writer on this web site, actually its only writer for the first 15 months of existence. Although I am grateful for the excellent contributions of my fellow writers here, I have no plans of stepping back into strictly an editorial role. I started this thing in the first place because I love to write and I love the Mets, and blogging here keeps me somewhat sane. If you haven't had enough already, more bio info can be found here.
