Mets 7 - Braves 1

For all of the numbers you can point to for John Maine, to me the most important is "14" -- the number of wins he has with a month to go in the season.

There was a lot of sentiment among Mets fans going into this game that they would have rather seen Phillip Humber start this game. No one felt that way after Pelfrey started mowing down Braves hitters, displaying the slider and changeup that should take his game to the next level. Pelfrey has another start in relief of the limping Orlando Hernandez, then the Mets should start auditioning him for a playoff role out of the bullpen.

Maybe the best game Tom Glavine has pitched against his old mates. After giving back a run in the ninth, Billy Wagner may have rediscovered his mojo in nailing down the save. It would be nice to see a return of the dominating closer from early in the year.

About Mike: I was the original writer on this web site, actually its only writer for the first 15 months of existence. Although I am grateful for the excellent contributions of my fellow writers here, I have no plans of stepping back into strictly an editorial role. I started this thing in the first place because I love to write and I love the Mets, and blogging here keeps me somewhat sane. If you haven't had enough already, more bio info can be found here.

All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you. It was refreshing find out they won all three, as I could not watch one game due to the fact I was moving. Everywhere I went in Atlanta, I had on one of my Mets jersey's putting that mojo down and it worked (atleast in my mind. So needless to say I will be wearing a Mets jersey, hat, or T-shirt throughout the rest of the season. Superstition is the way.........
