I'm still way behind on email, so if you emailed me recently and haven't heard back from me yet, please be patient. I expect to be caught up by tomorrow.
As for this team that we root for -- well, they're just getting harder and harder to write about. I know some people take comfort in assigning blame, but that's never worked for me. There will be plenty of time in the off-season to dissect what has happened to this team. For right now, I'm just turning the game on every night and hoping that the off-season doesn't come too soon. I know "Believe" is somewhat of a cliché for Mets fans, but sometimes that's all you got.
Someone needs to step up and really be a hero for this club. It's probably unfair in the extreme to hope that Pedro Martinez -- still in the early stages of a comeback from major shoulder surgery -- can be that guy, but I'm hoping for some magic tonight. Anything to reverse this tide of futility.
