Back in late September, when the air was a little warmer and the Mets were still clinging to first place, I had the pleasure of meeting Katherine Foronjy at the launch party for Dana Brand's terrific book. Kathy is one-half of the team that produced Mathematically Alive - A Story of Fandom, which documents the agony and the ecstasy of being a Mets fan.
This weekend the film will be screened at the New Jersey Film Festival at Rutgers University. The information is below:

Mike, I just watched an advance copy of Mathematically Alive. It is even better than I dared hope it would be. The filmmakers have captured the spirit of Mets fans to an astonishing degree. It literally brought tears to my eyes. I urge Mets fans to get down to Rutgers to see this film this weekend. As they say, run, don't walk.

Dana - I urge them to stop at a bookstore along the way to pick up a copy of your book, too (which I actually will review here soon).

Al - I don't think there is one yet, but I'll check on it.

No, there isn't a DVD yet. The film is being shown at these festivals so that they can get a distributor who can get the films into theatres and who can get somebody to eventually issue a DVD. At this point, the only way to see the film is to go to the festival.
