Now that the season has begun I have completed my first of what will be many game recaps and updated starting pitching stats for the season. Just a quick note on both.
Game Recaps: My first full season of doing this blog was 2006. I was recuperating from an illness and had the time to write long game recaps and still post other types of blog entries, too. My time for this blog has diminished, and I have no desire to go back to writing long recaps at the expense of other pieces which I believe to be of greater interest for me and my readers. All of the local papers recap the games, and plenty of Mets bloggers do, too.
At one point I had considered dropping recaps completely. Then last season while I was devoting most of my time to the house we bought, recaps were actually a way to keep my hand in blogging with so little time to devote to it. My thought for this season is to write short recaps of every game to preserve a record of the games in this space and to share whatever brief thoughts the game calls to mind. Also, I enjoy hearing what you guys have to say on any given game. It's amazing how we can all watch the same game and pull different things out of it. So, while I'm not going to devote a tremendous amount of time to game recaps, I'm going to try to post whatever I have to say in a timelier manner than last season.
Pitching Stats: I know it looks a little silly to start the season stats for the starting pitchers after only one game, but this way I don't have to spend a lot of time catching up on them once the pitchers all get a few starts. I will also try to maintain these in a more timely manner than was possible for me last year. Each starter will have a link on the sidebar (under "The Pitchers -- 2008 Stats") for anyone who wishes to refer to this information during the course of the season.
