Game 38: Nationals 5 - Mets 3
The 2008 Mets are a rollercoaster ride to futility. Some players who have been struggling goes on a hot streak with the bat and you think maybe the team is finally going to hit. Next thing you know, their bats cool off and runs are still hard to come by. They win a couple of games, looking pretty good, and you could almost bet that are a couple of stinkers just around the corner. If the pitching is strong you can bet that the hitters will struggle to score. When the bats are working the pitching suffers.
Almost everyone knows someone who has a lot of promise but can't deliver on it. The 2008 Mets are like that weird, middle aged genius uncle who still lives with mom and works the night crew at the supermarket.
By the way, better than expected start from Mr. Vargas.
You may notice this post is short on game analysis. More on that later.

They can't help Vargas, and the basically let a Pelfrey "great" performance go to the dogs. I can't figure these guys anyway you slice it. Both pitchers derserved wins, what is keeping these guys from going on all cylinders? Like you said it's always some part of the game not equaling the others. I have stopped watching most games after the 6th unless they are up by 3 or more. If they are trailing after the 7th, I just turn to the news or watch some other team (not Yanks, Braves, or Phils) at least put up an honest effort. Sometimes with this team, I feel like the high school kid who thinks he's about to score and then the girl says stop, and the whole ride is blown. There have been some good moments, but they have not taken us all the way. Can somebody please help these guys, this is starting to be tough to bare. lets go mets.........PLEASE!

I hate this thought, but the more I examine it, the more I can't get around it.
They're just not that good.

I am going to the game Sunday in Binghamton N.Y. I think I'll see some Mets playing to win there.Hot dogs are only a dollar and I got tickets on top of the Mets dugout for six dollars, kind of nice for the family and young fans to enjoy baseball the way it use to be. ...FUN TO WATCH.
