Hey gang. Your intrepid blogger is getting over his bout of food poisoning. I'll be back tomorrow with something on tonight's "easy" win over San Diego. For archive purposes here are the links to the pitcher stats and game wraps of the dreadful Houston series, where the Mets managed to play worse than I felt. That was an accomplishment.

You're never as bad as you look when things are going wrong, but the 10-game winning streak seems a long time ago. The Mets just can't seem to distance themselves very far from the .500 mark and time is running out. It's been fits and starts, fits and starts, fits and starts ad nauseam.

I like what they're doing by looking at their kids. They might yet have a run in them for this season, but I suspect next year is more probable. The starting pitching has been up and down, the bullpen has been really shaky, and the hitting isn't good enough to overcome the shortcomings of the first two.

On the other hand, maybe playing the kids juices things up and gets some life into this club for a stretch run. At least it's kind of fun to see some talented kids get a taste of the bigs. And if things don't work out, you could always check out my friends at Ticket Solutions for Jets tickets and Giants tickets.

About Mike: I was the original writer on this web site, actually its only writer for the first 15 months of existence. Although I am grateful for the excellent contributions of my fellow writers here, I have no plans of stepping back into strictly an editorial role. I started this thing in the first place because I love to write and I love the Mets, and blogging here keeps me somewhat sane. If you haven't had enough already, more bio info can be found here.
