This will be a quickie Sunday reading column this week as I am in the process of finishing up a book review that I am committed to finishing tonight.
Cut to the Chass
Matthew Artus from Always Amazin' once again calls Murray Chass -- who seems to be on a mission to prove the New York Times made the right call when they canned him -- on what Matthew correctly characterizes as a witch hunt against Mike Piazza.
Again, folks, it's not that we can't accept that Piazza might have taken steroids, it's the dubious nature of the "evidence" that Chass presents as conclusive proof against the former Mets catcher.
I've made the point for a long time that we need to turn the page on that era, whether it's Piazza, Bonds, A-Rod, Giambi, McGwire or any of the other favorites. This just gets petty and silly, and changes absolutely nothing of what has already gone down.
Bobby O
Bob Klapisch from the Bergen Record offers up a terrific interview with former Mets pitcher -- and soon to be SNY Studio personality -- Bob Ojeda.
In The Citi
Jason from Faith And Fear In Flushing, Joe from Mets Today, Mets Grrl and Dana Brand all offer pictures and descriptions of Citi Field's first game.
