Game 6: Marlins 2 - Mets 1
Not really much to say about this one. I had a bunch of people over for Easter and could only sneak away every so often to peek in on this game. I didn't see Murphy's error live, or much offense at all for that matter.
In two starts now the Mets have scores a grand total of 3 runs for their ace. Johan and the bullpen made it hold up on opening day, but it wasn't enough against Josh Johnson today.
So Johan takes his first loss of the season without allowing an earned run in a game where he struck out 13 Marlins. The obvious thing to say here is that the Mets can't afford to lose too many games where they receive this level of starting pitching. I'm sure you'll read about that tomorrow, over and over.
So the Mets complete their first road trip 3-3, which isn't too bad, I guess. Then again, their three losses came by a total of four runs, which says something about missed opportunities. But let's not carp on that right now.
They'll be in front of the home crowd tomorrow in the first real game at Citi Field. The last couple of years at Shea were tough ones between the team and its fans, and you wonder if the new stadium will change that dynamic. I suspece that will greatly depend on how they play.
