Game 28: Mets 7 - Pirates 3
I personally found the most significant number from Jon Niese's first start of the season the 67 strikes thrown out of 95 total pitches. Niese made three starts for the Mets last September, and the one he was effective in was the one against the Braves where he threw strikes.
Although the curve is his best pitch, I think Niese shows a good enough fastball to be a solid mid-rotation starter at the major league level, provided he isn't pitching from behind in the count constantly.
Huge game for Delgado, who looks really good at the plate again.
