Game 30: Mets 8 - Pirates 4
The Mets' first true series win of the season extends their winning streak to 7 and puts them four games over .500. Last year it took the Mets until July 10 to get 4 games over, in game 6 of an eventual 9-game streak.
This team still has some issues, but at least their winning the games they're supposed to win right now. They're taking advantage of the other team's mistakes and minimizing the damage from heir own -- something that was clearly not happening early on.
Livan Hernandez wasn't great, pitching out of trouble constantly. Still, he went 6 innings and only allowed a couple of runs. He's giving the Mets some innings and a chance to win most of his starts, and you really can't ask for much more than that from him.
