I think it really depends on length of contract for meMike Steffanoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08573922415294713184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1122736168771714314.post-23371919142042505932020-12-14T10:20:38.613-05:002020-12-14T10:20:38.613-05:00I am all in on Springer, not only because he is th...I am all in on Springer, not only because he is the best option out there, but also because he is the best option by A LOT.

If not Springer, then I think they need to explore the trade market for centerfield - either Ramon Laureano or Byron Buxton, neither of whom is known to be 'available'. Nimmo is not a centerfielder, and JBJ is both left handed, and not a good enough hitter.

I do like the idea of not giving up the draft picks for signing the qualifying offer guys, but I think Springer is worth one of them. I am very aligned with Reese's thoughts on his separate piece this morning. Springer seems to have lost a step in CF (and will likely lose a couple more over the next few seasons), and Bauer, who faced a watered down schedule last season, is no guarantee to be worth huge money and years. (He could also become a PR lightning rod in NY). That said, Springer is clearly a terrific RH bat, which the club desperately needs, can certainly still play the position, and by all accounts is a shining personality who will be well received by fans and teammates.

That would be my big move. I’d stay away from Bauer, and use the resources to bring in two solid starters (Odoriizzi? Tanaka?) and at least one more high end RP. This team also needs a 3B who can play the position, but it looks like that will have to wait. That Adam Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05687771146317665283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1122736168771714314.post-88315488589586924862020-12-13T17:55:48.389-05:002020-12-13T17:55:48.389-05:00Yeah, I'm definitely on team Springer. Many want that timber to be named Bauer, bit Monday morning I take on why that might not be the right move. Reese Kaplanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12993445356545875409noreply@blogger.com
